Often associated with nausea, vomiting, light and sound sensitivity

Aura (focal neurologic symptoms)

HYPERTENSION

Hypertension is another name for high blood pressure. It can lead to severe health complications and increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, and sometimes death.

Almost half of all adults in the United States have hypertension, but many are not aware of this fact. Keeping blood pressure under control is vital for preserving health and reducing the risk of these dangerous conditions.

Risk factors associated with hypertension: Age, Obesity, Family history, Sedentary lifestyle, Hight sodium/salt diet, Race, and Excessive alcohol consumption

Lifestyle changes to control hypertension include diet, exercise, salt restriction, weight loss, and limited alcohol intake

 

Stages of high blood pressure:

  • Normal blood pressure: Less than 130/80 mmHg.

  • Stage 1 hypertension: 130 to 139/80 to 89

  • Stage 2 hypertension:  over 140/90

HIGH CHOLESTERO

Cholesterol is a substance found in everyone's blood, and it is needed for good health. The problem arises when people have too much cholesterol resulting in higher risk of heart attacks, strokes, and other health problems.

 

Types of cholesterol:

 

  1. Total cholesterol

  2. LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol) 

  3. HDL cholesterol (good cholesterol)

  4. Non-HDL cholesterol

  5. Triglycerides

HOW DO I KNOW IF I HAVE HYPOTHYROIDISM? 

The diagnosis of Primary hypothyroidism relies heavily upon laboratory tests.

Types of hypothyroidism are:

Primary Hypothyroidism is characterized by high TSH and low free thyroxine (T4)

Subclinical hypothyroidism is characterized by a normal T4 in the presence of an elevated TSH.

Secondary hypothyroidism is characterized by a low T4 concentration and a normal TSH
